I was working at a hospital in NYC when I found out about No Dogs Left Behind. I had not heard of the organization before and fell in love with their mission and with Tiger, a 6/19 slaughterhouse survivor. I could not believe that he had been at the rescue for 3 years. I applied for him immediately and spoke to Brandy soon after on the phone.
Waiting for Tiger during COVID was one of the hardest things I have done, but also one of the most rewarding things. Getting video and pictures updates kept me going. It was hard to fully understand just how much NDLB, and Jeff, cared for the dogs until I met them at the airport and saw Jeff interact with the dogs. I got there early to volunteer and burst out crying when I saw Tiger in his crate…all I could say was “he’s perfect.”
Tiger has lived in NYC with me for a little over a month now and is amazing. People continue to stop and ask me where he is from and are surprised by his story, so I tell them to look up the rescue. He is resilient and is the sweetest boy, and he has come so far in this short time. I cannot imagine the transition he has gone through, and to look back to a month ago I am so proud. Tiger will continue to get love and patience for the rest of his life and I am beyond grateful that he is here with me. Connecting with other adopters that have had similar experiences has been helpful also.
There are not enough words for how much Tiger means to me. THANK YOU to Jeff, Brandy, and the rest of the NDLB team for helping to keep Tiger safe and for bringing him home.
